Joppan is a rich ‘achayan’ from Thoprankudy who becomes an alcoholic after a love failure. This movie is an outright comedy that says a love story of this title character. Mega stars elegant look in this movie has given a highlight. The film’s unique selling point was Mammootty. No one can pull off an achayan better than him. For those who are unaware, achayan is a colloquial expression for male members of the Saint Thomas Christians in Kerala, especially in Kottayam. And Mammootty thrives on such roles.
The major screen space is shared between Mammootty and his cast which includes Alancier, Sreejith Ravi, and Saju Navodaya, and their chemistry is much enjoyable. Mamta Mohandas delivers a good act, but Andrea Jeremiah’s acting potentials were not at all utilized properly in this movie. Salim Kumar and Harisree Asokan performance are neat and they have helped much in taking it forward. The cinematography by Sunoj Velayudhan and the music by Vidyasagar are considered as average. This movie can satisfy with elements for a typical fan. It is lacking in depth and it camouflaged by rib-tickling comedy.
One time watchable, lacking in depth and it camouflaged by rib-tickling comedy.
